Clipston & District Flower ClubWe meet on the 3rd Wednesday of each month at 7.30p.m. in Clipston Village Hall and we welcome visitors to our meetings.CLIPSTON FLOWER CLUB'S FLOWER FESTIVALClipston Flower Club recently held their Flower Festival at the Baptist Church, Market Harborough and were encouraged with the tremendous support and interest generated from the public over the three days Featured below are some highlights from the Festival
Christmas Demonstration - Wishing on a Star with Rose-Marie TreeRose-Marie Tree came to do our Christmas Demonstration this year and it was a wonderful and successful Open Meeting. Her title was ‘Wishing on a Star’ and by the end the stage was a riot of colour with interesting ‘things’ enhancing the imaginative and exciting arrangements. I personally thought that he final piece with Mary and Jesus was amazingly creative and very moving. Rose-Marie obviously had put a lot of thought and work into her demonstration and she kept us entertained throughout with jokes and anecdotes. We had a lovely Christmassy sales table thanks to Carolyn and Linda and yummy refreshments donated by the committee. Jen Soulsby Chairman

Open Meeting - September 17thOur demonstrator at this meeting was Tan Strong, a professional floral designer who has competed at national level, winning several ‘First’ awards. She is a National Demonstrator, Area Judge, Speaker and Trainer, and, we can all testify, a very talented lady! Her designs were strongly interpretive with a contemporary twist and very imaginative and mouth watering (particularly ‘Tiramisu’!) her title being ‘All that Glistens’. Her presence on the stage was wonderful and she had us all spellbound with her dramatic delivery and humorous tales. We were thrilled to have a very good turnout for this event including a lot of visitors (who we are encouraging to become members). Our special guests were our Area Chair, Jean Myatt, and Area Secretary Simone Squire. Of course the Area Vice Chair, in the person of our very own Carolyn Rutland, was also present. We are very proud of Carolyn and all the work she undertakes for the Area. At the end of the dem the stage looked breathtaking and so colourful. Loads of photos were being taken. We had managed to get some proper stage lighting and a new radio mike (donated by Knowle Flower Club) and these really enhanced the whole event. We had very good feedback from everyone and it certainly was a delightful evening to remember, concluding with scrummy refreshments donated by the committee. I would personally like to thank all the committee for their hard work and support during my first year in office. - Jen Soulsby
