February saw another popular workshop evening with dutch supper and our Annual Dinner was held n April with David Kent entertaining us with popular songs from the shows. In June a group of our members spent a pleasant sunny afternoon arranging baskets of flowers for Market Harborough’s Carnival Queens float which we then decorated. In August we have our Presidents Tea with Treasure Hunt and quiz. We have enjoyed an outing to Belvoir Castle, and look forward to visits to Highgrove and Burghley House.
GOLDEN FANFAYRE WEEKDuring the Golden Fanfare week the Club placed an arrangement in the Leicester & Alliance Building Society window, arrangers were Jane Mawby and Helena Lee. Sally Collier placed an arrangement in the Harborough Clinic. Vicki Tuffen and Joan Bootheway did arrangements in the Market Harborough Golf Club and Foxton Church, respectively, in celebration of the Anniversary week.
FEBRUARY "PINK WORKSHOP"The Flower Club of Market Harborough was all in the pink in February as it held a 'Pink Workshop' in aid of NAFAS Charity of the Year Breast Cancer Care. Members were asked to wear something pink and donate a £1 to the Charity for doing so. The four workshops used shades of pink flowers and accessories A 'bring and buy' sales table was also held which contained only pink items and the evening concluded with a Dutch supper. A most enjoyable evening was had by all and in the process of having fun we raised £167 on behalf of the Charity.
A BUSY DECEMBERThe Flower Club of Market Harborough had a busy time in December with a bus trip to Chatsworth House to view the Christmas decorations and a Christmas event with a difference. Six of our members,in pairs, did a 'Guided' flower demonstration. The arrangers were blindfolded and their partners handed the flowers or foliage etc. to them, but could not help, only advise. Amazingly the three arrangements looked superb when finished and went into the raffle. The Harborough Movie Makers came along to give a preview of the film they had made of the Flower Club's Sapphire Anniversary Year, which included our Anniversary Dinner and Flower Festival. All the members were asked to wear a form of Christmas headwear and the evening finished with mulled wine and mince pies |
