Wellesbourne Flower Club
Wellesbourne Flower Club is a small but friendly village club which meets on the third Wednesday of February, April, June, July, August
and October and on the first Wednesday in December at Wellesbourne Village Hall at 7.30pm..
We have a super mix of members ranging from novices to ladies with a huge wealth of experience.
So there is something for everyone.
We mainly have demonstrations where we can sit back and watch the experts in action.
This is followed by tea and biscuits, a chat and then a raffle draw where anyone stands a chance
(as long as you have bought a ticket of course!) of taking home one of the fantastic arrangements
from the evening’s demonstration.
Occasionally we have a talkor a trip to a local garden of interest or a hands-on workshop where,
under guidance you can have a go at something new and then take home the fruits of your labours.
Below is a copy of our current programme, so please come along and have a look at what we do

December Meeting - Sharon Badger Christmastime |
Early in December Sharon Badger got Wellesbourne Flower Club into the
Christmas spirit with her 'Christmastime' demonstration.
Sharon, a NAFAS Area Demonstrator, travelled from Market Harborough to be with us.
Her arrangements first started with a modern urn filled with shamrock
chrysanthemums, granny smith apples, ornamental thistles and sprayed
hydrangeas.
Secondly she next showed us finished wreaths made out of twisted wire, an
idea that we could adapt for our own wreaths.
Sharon then created an arrangement for anyone short of time and needing to
create an impact. She filled empty pickling vinegar jars positioned in a
galvanised baby's bath with gold twigs, sprayed ivy and white
chrysanthemums.
Next a copper and orange design used Chinese lanterns,
orange carnations and roses and completed with oranges on kebab sticks.
Then Sharon told us about Christmas in a warmer climate and using exotic
flowers and foliage and a basket which depicted the sun's rays, she created
the effect of a 'hot' Christmas, which was made more poignant by a poem
entitled 'Christmas in the Sun'.
Sharon was thinking of the New Year and a clock ticking when she created her
grand finale, a huge stunning design incorporating big red baubles and red
amaryllis for the clock's pendulum.
The thoroughly enjoyable demonstration ended with Sharon lighting her
arrangements with twinkly lights and playing 'Mary's Boy Child'; a wonderful
start to Christmas. We ended the evening with refreshments and cakes
provided by the committee and thanks given to Sharon for giving us a truly '
Christmastime ' evening |

October AGM and Talk |
After our brief AGM in October we enjoyed a very interesting and informative talk by Trish Wassall who is co - owner of All Seasons Flower Supplies in
Coventry. She was joined by husband Simon and colleague, Lisa .
Illustrating the evening with slides, firstly Trish explained her business and how the flowers and foliage were cared for and the vast array of sundries
in stock. Secondly Simon fascinated us with a description of a recent visit to Holland to visit the flower auctions.
Afterwards, Lisa showed us some of her favourite sundries and suggested different ways of displaying the two beautiful arrangements she had brought with
her which were later generously given as raffle prizes.
Everyone agreed it was a very enjoyable evening and many members are hoping to visit Trish in Coventry soon. |
September Home Team Workshop My Favourite Container |
As Autumn colours were showing in our gardens and hedgerows , Wellesbourne
Flower Club met to arrange a seasonal arrangement in their ' Favourite
Container'.
Seventeen members brought containers as diverse as candlesticks to cache pots, fruit bowls to teapots. It was a perfect opportuntiy to catch
up with friends and natter whilst we were working.
At the end of the eveningwe displayed our efforts whilst refreshments were served. |
